LARRY H. CHRISTMAN, Ph.D. is a Senior Consultant for the higher education practice of R. H. Perry & Associates. Dr. Christman's unique professional background combines experience in higher education associations and institutions with his work for State government and the legislature as well as serving as a consultant. This experience has enabled Larry to work effectively in leading and/or assisting in presidential and senior administrator searches.

Dr. Christman served as president of the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Ohio (AICUO) from 1983 to 2005. Previously, Larry was the Deputy Director for Strategic Planning at the Ohio Department of Development for one year, and served as a State Representative in the Ohio House of Representatives for eight years. During that time, Larry was vice chairman of the Education Committee, and chair of the Sub-Committee on Colleges and Universities where he conducted statewide hearings and authored a report on the future of higher education in Ohio.  Also of note was his work for the Citizens Council for Ohio Schools where he conducted a study on school financial management and produced a report entitled, "Streamlining Local School Budgeting in Ohio," which was issued to State education policy leaders.  Dr. Christman has taught at Capital University, Sinclair Community College, Northmont Local Schools, and Bluffton College.  Early in his career, he was Special Assistant to the Dean of the College of Education at Wright State University.

Born in Ohio in 1940, he received degrees in history and political science from Bluffton College (B.A., 1962), in history from Ohio State University (M.A., 1963), and in Leadership Studies from the Union Institute (Ph.D., 2003). He attended Harvard University's Institute for Educational Management in 1990 and took additional graduate studies in educational administration, curriculum development, and policy analysis at the University of Cincinnati, Wright State University, and Miami University.

Active in community and civic organizations, Dr. Christman has worked with United Cerebral Palsy, the Englewood City Council (Ohio), and the Board of Trustees and the National Alumni Association Executive Board of Bluffton College. He received a Doctorate of Educational Leadership, honoris causa, from the University of Findlay and is a member of Phi Delta Kappa. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities and a former member of the Board of Directors of Tuition Exchange, Inc.
