NORMAN E. DEWIRE, Ph.D. joined the Board of Advisors of R. H. Perry & Associates (RHPA) in July 2006. Previously, Dr. Dewire served as President of the Methodist Theological School in Ohio (MTSO), a graduate school awarding both masters and doctoral degrees, from 1986 to 2006.
Prior to his presidency of MTSO, Dr. Dewire held numerous leadership positions, including General Secretary for the General Council on Ministries of The United Methodist Church; director of a national agency in New York City that provided joint strategy for cutting edge programs for “home mission” staff of over 20 denominations; and a pastor of several United Methodist congregations.
A native Ohioan, Dr. Dewire received his bachelor’s degree in education from Ohio University, a master’s degree from Boston University School of Theology, and the D.Min degree from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago. In addition, he received an honorary degree from Adrian College and was given the Public Service Award for civil rights by the U.S. Department of Justice and U.S. Attorney General.
Dr. Dewire is the president of the Board of Trustees for the West Ohio Conference of The United Methodist Church and a member of the Board of Directors of OhioHealth; the Board of Trustees for his alma mater Ohio University; the Ohio Commission on Dispute Resolution and Conflict Management, where he is a past chair; the Commission on Theological Education of the University Senate of The United Methodist Church; and the Board of Trustees for the Educational and Institutional Insurance Administrators. For twenty years, he was on the Executive Committee of the World Methodist Council where he was chair, for ten years each, of the Committee on Social and International Affairs and the Committee on Theological Education.
